Remember to do pre-season checks on your lawn equipment.
Be sure to give
your lawn equipment a thorough pre season check. Make
sure to check your engine oil and keep it at the full
mark. It is not necessarily ok to run your engine with
the oil level only being above the add mark. Most
engines today up to 27 horsepower take less than 2
quarts. When they are down to the add mark it is
dangerous to run them. Keep in mind that oil not only
lubricates the engine, it also cools, quiets, and cleans
the internal components of the engine. However, do not
overfill your engine. Excess oil will escape the engine
either by burning it or blowing it out, neither of which
are any good for the engine. If you find it challenging
to read your dipstick, especially with new clean oil,
remove the dipstick, wait 30 seconds, and then check it.
